A Plumtree Court office building is to be rebuilt to the tune of eighty million pounds according to a new report from The Scotsman newspaper. The paper claims that the stalled Central London office development, which was originally simply going to refurbish the building in question, is now going to be completely rebuilt after current occupants, auditing and accountancy firm Price-Waterhouse-Coopers, vacate the premises in the December of next year.
The property company which owns the building, which is itself owned by Sir David Murray, former chairman of the Rangers Football Club, intends to create a new development on the site which will allegedly be ten storey's high and contain around three hundred thousand square feet of executive office space.
The Plumtree Court redevelopment is one of many previously stalled office development plans that have been revived in the wake of a shortfall in office space in Central London which is being predicted to occur very soon, other projects include the "Walkie Talky" tower and the "Cheesegrater" building. The Scotsman says that the plan is currently still just tentative, however, with the project yet to receive financial backing, thus as yet no completion date has been set.
The Plumtree Court area would nonetheless be a plum site for such a development, and it is easy to see why the company would be keen to do so, given its highly convenient proximity to a number of transport lines including the Barbican, Chancery Lane and Farringdon tube stations.
