Olympic Office Space Open To Offers

30 September 2010

The office space that is set to house twenty thousand members of the media, both from the United Kingdom and overseas during the 2012 London Olympics, is open to offers as part of a plan to ensure the building does not become a disused waste of space once the games are over.

The Olympic Park Legacy Committee are, for the next nine weeks, open to offers from companies that will be interested in renting out executive office space in the building, hopefully beginning a process that will ensure long term employment opportunities in the East End long after the games themselves have faded into history.

"The Broadcast and Press Centres offer an unprecedented opportunity to create a new employment hub in Hackney Wick," says Mayor of Hackney, Jules Pipe. "They will have world class communications infrastructure and will be served by excellent new transport links... Our vision is to see creative, digital and media industries making the centres their homes and taking advantage of the creative community already thriving in the area. We must ensure the employment legacy vital to Hackney and east London is achieved and we will continue to work closely with our partners to secure this for our residents."

The office space is currently set to be split between the Press Office and the Broadcast Centre. Once finished, the Broadcast Centre will play home to almost nine thousand square feet of office space across five floors, while the Press Centre will offer almost thirty thousand square feet.
