Work Restarts on Helter Skelter

29 June 2011

Work is set to recommence on the skyscraper known as the "Helter Skelter" in a bid to take advantage of an expected shortfall of flexible offices in central london.

The "Helter Skelter" (otherwise referred to as the Pinnacle) is supposed to be 64 storeys tall but has so far only been completed to ground level while its owners attempted to bring together a financing package to ensure the success of the development. Now however, the building's asset manager, Arab Investments, has given global property group Brookfield the green light to continue with construction. It is anticipated that it will still take no less than another three years for the "Helter Skelter" to be completed.

"The Pinnacle has agreed with Brookfield to commence the final phase of construction works at the end of June to enable delivery of the city's tallest building by 2014," says the managing director of Arab Investments, Khalid Affara. "The Pinnacle is a unique product at 945 feet - the tallest building in the cluster of tall buildings in the city of London - and will be delivered into a market where there will be a shortage of high quality office space."

Brookfield has confirmed that they have received instructions to recommence with the Pinnacle project. The "Helter Skelter" is one of a number of buildings under construction in London, including several skyscrapers such as the "Cheesegrater" and the "Walkie Talkie", which are owned by British Land and Land Securities respectively.
