Expedia's Angelic Move

18 July 2011
The biggest online travel company in the entire world, otherwise known as Expedia, is making an angelic move to new office space in London. The award winning Angel Building is the commercial property that has been chosen to become the new headquarters of the online travel agency.
The Angel Building is situated in EC1, and has been the recipient of a variety of industry awards including one of the Refurbished/Recycled Workplace at this year's British Council for Office Awards. Reports are stating that Expedia will be renting no less than 81,000 square feet of office space across two floors in the building for the angelic sum of £3.33 million per annum.
The move is expected to make it possible for Expedia to consolidate the variety of different offices that it already occupies throughout Central London.
The travel agency was advised on the deal by commercial property firm Cushman & Wakefield. "The deal which involved two simultaneous transactions represents one of the largest in the West End this year," notes a spokesperson for Cushman & Wakefield. "The acquisition of 81,000 square feet over two floors at The Angel will enable Expedia's business to continue to grow within a single building at a significant discount (on a pro rata business) to their current cost base in Covent Garden."
The Angel Building has a total capacity of no less than 260,000 square feet of office space.
