"Convenient and flexible" office space is to be made available at railway stations throughout the United Kingdom, and will commence initially in London, as a result of an agreement which was made yesterday between Network Rail and the office space provider The Office Group, which is backed by Lloyd Dorfman. "Drop-in" work stations will be installed at Network Rail stations under the joint venture, which will begin operating at five London stations. The first to open will be at Paddington, located within MacMillan House and accessible from Platform 1. This office space will be able to accommodate up to as many as 250 people in a variety of differing office sizes.
The deal has been reached as a key part of Network Rail's intention to "enhance the passenger experience by creating stations which are destinations in their own right," and will tap into the increasing trend toward mobile working. It will also offer travelling professionals an alternative and convenient working environment.
Clients of the offices will also be able to take advantage of the other properties of The Office Group as a part of the offer, all of which are design-led work spaces that give clients a large network of satellite offices from which they can work. The new railway offices will also feature an office space membership scheme known as The Club, which is aimed specifically at mobile workers and entrepreneurs.
